Converting Windows Media Player Files To MP3 ?

I have a Sony Ericsson P900 mobile which is my pride and joy!! I want to download some windows media diles to play as ringtones, only problem is that they will only apparently play as MP3 files on my mobile. How do i go about converting my windows media files to MP3 format?

As far as I know, most WMA > MP3 converters are pay versions, not worth it if you don't need to use that often, and the trial versions I've come across don't allow you to convert the whole file.

But someone else who has more experience may know of a free version (trial or not).

If you can't get one, the workaround is to use Windows Media Player to burn the WMA file as an Audio CD first, then use an MP3 ripper/converter to rip the track to MP3. Use a CDRW disc so as not to waste the CD.

Two free ones are:

dbpoweramp and iTunes - although neither will convert protected downloads.
