I would like to convert pdf files into ms word documents for editing. Are there any good 'free' programs out there in netty land?

Found some with many resrictions, but not free.

If they are only text, then copy and paste is free and easy!

Thanks Vog, but it would seem the copy option is not available.

If they have been locked, then it may be necessary to ask the owner to allow selection and copying.

I have often been asked this. Where you will hit problems is if the pdf file is a scanned immage... It won't be able to do that.

Adobe have a free online converter to convert pdf file to text, I can find the linlk if you are interested or look on adobe's site.

Thank you Silverous, found the adobe item you mention, difficult to find on their website, but it returned that it could not convert it...

I will try and scan it...
