Does anyone know a good free programme for converting music files.I used to use one but I can't remember what it was and it went with my last PC.

dBPowerAmp if fine. Can still get free (older) version from click here.

Bear in mind, though, that wma to mp3 copies can often sound very poor.

I use dBpoweramp to convert to mp3, also if you are ripping from your CD collection Windows Media Player can rip to MP3.
Tools / options/ rip music/ choose mp3 from the dropdown list.

What I was intending to do was to take files from My Music and put a selection on my new Zen player.I was hoping to reduce the size of the WMA files to get more on, but after trying a couple of tunes I found that there was very little difference if I kept them at 128, which I find a useful size.Thank you all for your suggestions for converters. As soon as I downloaded one I suddenly found the one I lost. It was Creative Mediasource converter and it was actually pinned to the Start up on my desk top.No wonder I could not find it!!!
