I have just noticed that when I click on the control panel icon it does not open unless I right click then click on restore, clicking on open has no effect either. What to do.
Insert your XP CD, if it starts click on exit,go to Start >Run Type SFC /scannow if you have a damaged file it will repair it.
sorry mate didn't work.what next.
Does it open normally when you use 'Start... Settings.. Control panel'? If it does, it might be the shortcut is corrupt.
Can we assume this is an icon on the desktop? The normal route to Control Panel in XP is via the Start pane. An icon on the desktop must have been put there. If you right click, do you get a Properties option?
no, to start settings control panel and no, their is no icon on desk top,its the normal route.
Is this XP Home Edition?
