Connecting wireless laptop for the first time

  Siblueboy 19:58 05 Dec 2005

I have just purchased a Linksys WAG54GS Router/modem, it is wired via ethernet cable to my desktop and broadband is working correctly.

The reason for the wireless router was to enable my wife to surf the web from anywhere in the house on her Laptop which is wireless-G enabled

The laptop is receiving packets from the router and it reports excellent sigal strenght but loses connection every few minutes but also it is failing to connect to the internet it just keeps saying that it is searching for the connection..

I am with BT Broadband (base package)

Do I need to install anything else on the laptop ?

What have a I not done that I need to do ?

I have read about encription keys but am not sure where to find mine.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Many thanks

Check Device Manager if you have WiFi and a Ethernet socket Disable the Lan in the above.
