Connecting thomson tg585 to use cable broadband?

  Gibbons 11:18 28 Nov 2008

I recently got virgin fibre optic bb, to replace my tiscalli and have been trying to use my existing router with the cable modem virgin supplied.

Is this possible? Because when the only way I can see of doing it is to plug the ethernet cable from the virgin modem into one of the ethernet ports on the router, but then it doesn't recognise there being any internet present.

The actual internet is fine as the cable modem works plugged directly into laptop.

Can I use this router or is it only compatable with DSL??

Many thanks.

You cannot use the THOMSON TG585 with a cable broadband modem

The THOMSON TG585 is for a ASDL broadband system via the phone line

You need to use a Wireless G Cable /DSL Router with 4 port switch
