You can record from your set top box to the video via the Scart sockets (STB to VCR); however, you really need a VCR with two Scart sockets to be able to replay the recordings back on the TV.

Best way, but most likely to eventually damaged the Scart socket, is to unplug the STB to connect the VCR to the TV.

By the way, you will most likely need to use a channel such as L1 or L2 on the VCR to record from the STB.

You can record from the STB because its basic function is to pick up the digital television signals and convert them back to analogue.

Depending on the make of digi box some allow the the vcr to play back through the box to the tv.So you only need the one scart from the box to the vcr.The Sony box does this.

The Sony box does this.

And Sky digiboxes do that too.

Have you tried using a multi-plug?
