connecting devices - laptop hdmi

i would like to know how to get the best setup.

i have the following devices:
Xbox 360 (standard)
Sony Vaio fw11 laptop
samsung hd lcd tv
samsung surround sound cinema system
virgin cable box

everything (bar virgin box) has hdmi capabilities.
ss has optical audio out,
tv has pc input

which is the best way to connect all devices ?

1:xbox to tv/surround sound
2:laptop to tv/surrround sound
virgin cable box to tv/surround sound ( is this possible?)

i currently have everything (bar the laptop) linked into the tv via scart leads but would like better setup with hdmi and to give everthing use of my cinema system

if i connect laptop to tv via pc input there is no sound, if i connect via hdmi can/how do you get the sound to play through the ss while having the picture on the tv?!

hi, only the xbox 360 elite has HDMI support. You can buy a cable to connect your xbox to a pc monitor but you need to connect sound either to a stero. Hope your tv has a connection for a pc.

Thanks beta. But i know nothing about recivers.. So basically I plug everything into that and the reciever into my tv or ss? Is it easy enough? How much does a mid range reciever cost? Thanks
