Connect IDE drive to SATA

  JPJOF 17:19 05 Jun 2005

Hi, I have a 80gb IDE hard drive full of data and my new computer is SATA. Is there any way of connecting a second hard drive (IDE) to a SATA motherboard? My board has only one IDE interface and the optical drive is occupying it. I want to leave the hard drive installed permanently.

Two choices.

1. An IDE to Sata adapter

2. Put the IDE in an external caddy and connect it to the machine via USB.

I really must read the question.

You can permanently install the HDD on the IDE connector as a slave to the CD Rom.
