Computer will not start

Please help. I have an infuriating problem with my computer!

When I turn on the computer, the lights come on, but nobody is at home. There is no system check and Windows XP will not start. However, if I keep turning the computer off and re-starting, eventually, it will start

Does anybody know what the problem is and how I can fix it - or even tell me how to find out what the problem is?

Thanks in advance.

Many possible causes, but my vote goes to a failing power supply unit.

You probably need a bios update, though if this doesn't fix it you more likely have a problem with a piece of hardware. To do a bios update can be confusing, you could search the forums, or you could try this click here.
If you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself, seek expert advice, you really don't want to mess this up.

I agree with diemmess, check your power supply before anything.

Turn off your printer, then try again.
