Computer not booting up

  coolteentom 20:53 17 Mar 2006

I have an emachine pc, however it was slowing down with what I think was a virus, and eventually stopped running my computer etc.

A friend tried restoring the comp using the 'emachines restore disk,' but as we didnt have disk 2 at the time, it was cancelled half way through.

Now the comp shows the 'emachine startup screen' and a blank screen comes up with a flashing cursor.

I am able to get into BIOS at the min, but that's all I can seem to get into.

Has anyone got an idea of how to get the computer to get back onto some kind of menu etc. by using a downloading a boot disk or something?

Many thanks,

I would imagine that disk 1 has the windows install, disk 2 has all the drivers plus the free software.

without the drivers windows will not start.

Can you borrow a friends winxp cd and load windows using your licence no.

Contact the place of purchase and request a new drivers disk.

You are grounded, without some form of restore discs

Suggest you copy that disc while you have it. And put them some where safe. Not that safe that you cannot find them
