"The company"

is NOT liable in the case of a prosecution for software piracy, because there's no single entity there.

The company secretary, the Managing director and/or the IT director would be the individuals who would find themselves in the dock - they would be jointly and severally liable. They are responsible for the day to day management of the business, and it's up to them (and up to the Company secretary in particular) to ensure that software used on company computers is properly licenced.
