Compact flash cards

Can you please advise me whether the compact flash cards continue indefinitely to give high performance in registering digital images from the camera or is it the case that over a period of time there is a diminution in quality of capture definition?

Following your link through to the Compact Flash Association FAQ's I learn that CompactFlash cards have an operating shock rating of 2,000 Gs, which is equivalent to a 10-foot drop. With typical usage, a CompactFlash card can be used for more than 100 years with no loss or deterioration of data.

Yes Taupe, I had read that, I wonder how they managed to come up with that figure?!

Regardless, it would indicate that normally it is a very durable type of storage media, nothing is 100% guaranteed in the computer world though...
