Clearing files from old software on external drive

  matt-few 11:41 08 Aug 2010

Thanks to the help in a recent post, I am now successfully deleting duplicate files on my external drives - from backups made from two previous dying machines.

I now need to clear old software and other debris from the drives, so I just have photo, video and MS Office files. Is there any software that will do this at present?

Thanks in advance for the help.

If, as you say you are..."successfully deleting duplicate files on my external drives".
Then why are you asking..."Is there any software that will do this at present?"

Uninstal, delete what you don't want and keep what you do. You are doing it!

I see what you mean, but it's the way I wrote it!!!!

The backup drives have debris from other software, applications and's not just photos, videos and Office files, but loads of other rubbish as well that the old machines transferred over to the drives.

Just delete what you don't want. Simple as that.

Carry on as you are and delete what you don't want. Leave the 'Windows' files till last, as Windows may not let you delete them. Because - even though they are not - it may see them as system files. But we'll cross that bridge as and if you come to it.
