cihost email - is it a valid

  SaraF 20:09 11 Aug 2006

I've had an email from someone purprting to be from Cihost Billing Mangement saying:
"a chargeback made by the owner of the card that you paid for
your account with. This is a very serious matter.
I have deducted the amount of the chargeback, GBP 102.10, from your account and added our standard fee of GBP 23.95 as well. "

I've never had an account with cihost, don't even know who they are or what they do (although a quick Google has informed me)

There's a zip attachment supposedly with all my details.

Is this some sort of scam and/or attempt to put a virus of somesort on my PC. I haven't attempted to open the attachment yet.

Any help would be appreciated.

I would delete the email now.

Delete the mail and do not respond to it. Above all do not give any personal or account details in response to any email. Banks will NOT ask for that sort of information by email. This is a phishing scam.

Looks similar to cihost.exe which is a Trojan, as advised by others, delete it immediately, DO NOT open the attachment.

I was 90% certain that it was an email nasty but you've set my mind at rest. It's now deleted.
