checking security of wireless router

Hi, I've just installed a Linksys WAG54GS wireless router.

Currently I'm only using a wired connection to my PC and am not using the wireless part of the router.

How can I a) check that the wireless security is set appropriately and b) is it possible to disable the wireless part?

Thanks.

There should be option to turn off the wireless access point part of the router if you're not going to use it at least there is in mine. Login to the routers setup page and look under the wireless settings.

That is the most secure route if you're not using it otherwise make sure you set WPA security on it and disable the SSID broadcast function.

<<< is it possible to disable the wireless part? >>>

Type 192.168.1.1/wireless.htm into your browser and set the "Wireless Mode" to Disabled.

<<< check that the wireless security is set appropriately >>>

If you are going to use the router wirelessly, you should enable WPA encryption, per this screenshot click here
