Changing and/or removing password demand

From Thunderbird and Outlook Express
See click here
So I have just been round to see how he has got on- still nothing.
I got him back onto his server and sorted the password problem there, so at least now the mail is viewable and answerable there.
But the E-mail clients still want a password and refuse to accept his 'standard' password that he always uses for everything.
Tried the various options in Tools/Options/security/change password in both Outlook Express and Thunderbird - neither worked- for the old password or a new one.
Any clues any one?

Try reinstalling the old password in IE dialup connection(even if he is on BB).

Since this post I have discovered that I was able to send a test message in IE- password not withstanding so the SMTP aspect is OK
Its getting stuff in -POP3 thats the bag - more poking to do in OE and Thunderbird then.

Check to make sure the "Secure Password Authentication" option in the email clients account properties is not selected.
