change drive letters, how?

i have reciently partitioned an existing hard drive thus making new drive letters. however they are now all over the place. i now have 3 hard drives + cd writer + dvd rom + smart card reader which reads as a hard drive. i want to make my hard drives read c, d, e respectivly dvd f, cd writer g + removable disk h. can change the drive letters of hard drives with partition magic but it wont let me change the cd / dvd / removable disk. please help peeps.

I take it you are using 98?
control panel, system, device manager.
highlight each device in turn (dvd etc) and go into the properties. Now you can assign the drive letters.
after changing them you'll need to reboot.

Or in XP:
Control Panel >> Admin Tools >> Computer Management (Local) >> Storage >>Disk Management

Right-click a partition or drive and then choose >> Change Drive Letter and Paths.

sorry eccomputers but i'm neglected to mention that im using xp pro. have tried as you have suggested but it dont work with xp, note the good grammer!!!!!!!!

have tried your suggestion as well marjted but it will only allow me to change my hard drives and not the cd rom drives. antmore suggestions please. tat for the quick response though
