Celeron/Pentium/Athlon confused

  daisy2bell 07:19 28 Sep 2004

My mashine is a AMD Athlon.
Now looking at various computers, I see some are for sale with Intel Celeron, others with Intel Pentium and others with AMD Athlon.

What are the differences between these 3.
I note that Celeron is the cheapest of the 3.

Compared to my AMD Athlon 800 / 256, would a celeron 2GB / 512 (or even 1024) be much better

For the most part, you can equate a Pentium with an AMD - the AMD run at lower clock speeds for the same restult.

Centrinos are mobile processors with extra cache - see above re. celerons.
