I have a 4 year old computer, based on an Intel SE440bx-2 motherboard that will only accommodate a Pentium III 600 Mhz with a Bios upgrade.

What I would like to know is will this give me a significant increase in speed or will I have to scrap the lot and invest in a new motherboard kit. I have 192Mb of SD RAM.

It won't revolutionise your computer - At the end of the day, it depends what you want to acheive, and how much you want to spend.

The choices you face are to go the whole hog, or compromise. The cheapest option , allowing you to keep your existing PSU, and RAM (as well as the other bits) - is a Celeron or Duron, around 1.0 to 1.3GHZ, plus motherbaord and fan.

Any faster than that, and you're into new PSUs, and DDR RAM - then it may be better to buy the whole thing, and sell what you've got.
