was given a cdrw to fit to old pc but cdrw specs say p2 4oo cpu with 64 ram.old pc is deskpro 2000 with p1 200 cpu and 64 ram is it worth fitting writer to this machine or does machine need upgraded/thrown out?any suggestions welcomethanks
An upgrade would be in order for the CDR/W to operate at it's optimum speed.
thanks recap thats what i thought,i think a newer machine would be the best bet rather than spend too much on an old box
I realise that this is ticked, but given that it takes only a few minutes to install a CD-RW drive, why not try it. It may not work at top speed, but should do the job for you.
might just try it just wasnt sure if it would run or not
Bit of an echo here tonight!
I find the minimum specs listing somewhat strange for your CD-RW drive as most people get along well with far more basic setups.I use my TDK CyClone 24x10x40x quite happily with a Celeron 400MHz CPU; I would suggest that you only use the imaging method rather than "on the fly" and you shouldn't have any problems.
