cdrom wont boot bootable discs xp

i have two cdroms and they worked ok before but now they wont boot bootable cds can anyone give me addvice

Is the BIOS set to boot from CD as first or second boot device. I set my BIOS to Floppy, CD, HHD

Ran repaire tool but did not work i have even put in anoughter hard drive with windows 98 on and still had the same problem

yes i checked that I cant even use Automated system recovery as it will not boot from cd rom even though it is configured in the bios thanks

Check the CD drive ribbon cable with a new one

if its an old puter chances are it wont boot from a bootable cd rom.

tells you here somewhere i think. you will need to make 6 bootable floppy`s and alter bios to boot from floppy drive.
