cd-rw prob

Recently I tried to burn a CD on my CD-RW. I've never used the actual re-writer before but it works as a CD-ROM fine. The problem is when ever I insert a blank disc(and i've tried 3) it still says please insert a re-writable disc. I right-clicked on DVD/CDRW drive in my computer and went on to drivers and it said it had a CD-ROM driver. Does this mean I will have to download a CD-RW Driver and where can I get one from. Thanks inadvance for your help.

the operating system is xp pro, how do i find out the cd-rw name and the sofware is nero 6
