CD Rom drive - tray wont open

Have a Philips CDR/W drive that is stuck on my deskptop

It wont open and green light (disc in) is flashing although Im sure I never inserted a cd in the drive

Tried opening using other means ie trying to access drive through Control Panel but no joy

Any suggestions, ie is there a manual eject button to release the drive tray

Stick a straightened paperclip into the little hole on the front of the CD player, it's usually located just below the drawer. That will open the drawer for you.

But don't use a paper clip or similar to open the drawer with your system switched on - for obvious reasons...:-)

It could just be that your drive has a disk which has not been properly ejected stuck inside, but opening using the supplied wire tool or paper clip should reveal any problems.

of course I should have said......... turn off the PC first. :o
