my computer recognises that the cd rom drive is there but it will not read discs this happened after installing a dvd drive know none of them work
Did you ensure that the jumpers on the back of the drives were set so that one was master and the other slave.
system specs, OS. Also what bremner said, Jumpers. They on seperate IDE channels or same?
The DVD drive (is it a rewriter?) should be Master and the CD-ROM the Slave; DMA should be set for both and, if it is a rewriter, Auto Insert Notification should be disabled for the CD-ROM drive as (at least in the case of Nero) the burning software controls the operation of the drives.
There are numerous threads on this subject, all asking pretty much the same question, so a search should bring whatever else you may require.
