cd-r to play on DVD player?

Further to this thread I posted click here

I successfully copied the slides to videotape but the quality is not great. I was wondering if I can put the slideshow onto a cd-r disc and show it on my DVD player. The DVD player I have is an older type given to me by a relative and I dont think it has the capacity to play files burnt onto cd-r. Does anyone know a way round this or if it is even possible given the limitations of the DVD player

you can look up your home dvd player click here to see what it can and cannot play.
