capture video from vcr to pc

My vcr has only 21 pin scart and the usual coax out to tv. Pc has firewire and usb ports but I have not heard of or found a suitable cable to connect the 2.
Do I need to invest in a tv card for the pc or has anyone any other thoughts?
I would dearly love to edit those home movies which are a little on the long side!

There are a lot of video cards out there with TV in which would do the job. There are also specific cards just for this purpose.

Please remember that commercially made video tapes contain macrovision which would have to be removed for you to record onto PC.

You need a video capture card if you are going edit Analogue (VHS Hi8 etc)video. The card will digitize your video to allow it to go onto your computer. You will be able to use a scart to phono adapter at the vcr end.
