My son is attempting to upgrade Windows Messenger Live but upon downloading, the installation is cancelled with the message - aborted 0x80004004
He is then advised to do the following
To uninstall a Windows Live program:
In Windows XP, click Start, and then click Run.
Type appwiz.cpl, and then press ENTER. Click Windows Live Essentials, and then click Remove or Uninstall/Change. If you're prompted, click Continue. Select Uninstall, and then click Continue. Select the check boxes for the Windows Live programs that you want to uninstall, and then click Uninstall. Follow the on-screen instructions. Note To install or uninstall Windows Live programs, you must have administrator (The person who manages a computer and has permissions to make changes to the computer, including installing programs, accessing files, and managing user accounts.) rights on the computer.
However, no joy, because whilst we can see and highlight Windows Live Essentials, nothing happens when we try to uninstall and the program remains.
