.....or any dvd's for that matter!

My father-in-law copied still pictures from a digital camera onto a disc using Nero and bought it up for us to watch on our pc. But for some reason quite beyond us, it will not play at all.

I apparently already have power-dvd installed.

I have just downloaded a free trial of power-cinema and still nothing.

Apologies for being obtuse but could do with some help.

I have a dimension 8300 with xp home edition.

not an expert but are they saved as DVD format or just on a CD in which case opening my computer and selecting the drive the cd is in should bring them up and you can watch then as a slide show, sorry if you have tried this

Open/Explore the Disc.
You will find that are mostlikely simply a string of JPEG files.
As such a domestic[TV] DVD player will run them with its own slide show.
To run them on a PC you will also need a slide show program.

www. xat.com is another
Both free. xat will sell you a relrase code for £15 or so for an enhanced version that will make DVDs and VCD's with audio and all the bells and whistles.

That's the problem. I can't read/see any files on any dvd.

Music cd's and games fine, no problem, but dvd's are not showing anything.

"Music cd's and games fine, no problem, but dvd's are not showing anything."

Have you ever successfully played DVD's on your PC? Does it have a DVD player, or is it just a CD player/burner?

The drive is a DVD player is it and not simply a
CD player.

"Have you ever successfully played DVD's on your PC?"

Erm, No ;o}

"Does it have a DVD player,"

Yes.

"or is it just a CD player/burner?"

No.

Thanks,

Bear.

Then next questions is
Do you have DVD player software loaded such as
'Power DVD'?
