You cannot format from within Windows. You need a boot disk click here

Here's a guide (for W98 but the formatting bit is the same) click here

No need to use a floppy anything. You can use your XP prof CD.

restart the computer and enter the bios. Usually by pressing the delete button.

Look at the second heading, advance bios settings? and enter. Now look for first boot " device". Change this to cdrom by using the PgUp or PgDn buttons. Now save settings and exit, usually the F10 key.

The computer will reboot. Put the X\P disk in and you should be away. It will ask what partition and if you want to format it after it has ran a few moments.

Just remember that when it is loading files and then reboots. do not press any key while it is rebooting or you will set the installation into a loop.

Also remember to load the windows patch for blaster worm before you connect to the internet.

no boot disc needed, what you have to do is this

Restart computer and when it starts to re-boot start tapping the Delete key until you get in the BIOS

When in the BIOS look for a section called boot sequence (you wont miss it as it has floppy, Hard drive and CD-rom/cd-rw)

When you have found the above change the sequence so the first on the boot list is CD-ROM/CD-RW drive and the the hard drive

Now go to the exit screen and ensure that you have save the changes

After you have formatted and loaded windows dont forget to reverse the step and make the 1Floppy, 2Hard drive and 3CD-RW/CD-ROM

now go for it and happy formatting
