Canon Carts Question

I stumbled on some Canon original injet carts on sale extremely cheaply in Asda today and because they looked like the ones I plonk in my new Canon Pixma IP4000 I snapped them up for silly money ! When I got home I discovered that the cart for my IP4000 had a different number on them. The carts I bought were magenta BCI-3eM and my IP4000 needs BCI-6 magenta. They look identical do I assume they will not work in the printer without causing problems? I only paid 2p each for them !

according to this the BCI-6 is photo ink and the BCI-3eM is ordinary inkjet and they both are okay for IP4000
