Cannot start Windows Firewall/Internet Connection

Hi all, Having downloaded Windows SP2 Service pack, i have found that windows cannot enable the Windows firewall. This is because the Assocaited service is not running Internet Connection Sharing Service. Nor can i start the service manually. Error Message received:-
Error - 10047 An address incompatible with the requested protocol was used. I dont runderstand where i need to go to correct this or at least find out what the incorrect address is. Has anyone experienced this problem? or can anyone help me. Thanks
