Cannot print using XP & Epsom R300

  the-george 21:23 20 Apr 2010

Running windows XP (SP2) cannot get it print with Epasom R300.
Printer works fine with other pc running ME and W2K.
Photo card reader on printer also works with XP.
Loaded correct driver and in control panel/printers the correct one is selected as default and is 'ready'. No conflicts noted. Bidirectional communication enabled.

When try to print it seems not to be able to make contact and after a while reports that there was a printing error.

Don't think it is the usb cable as the card reader in the printer communicates ok.

Any other ideas?

Turn off the printer. Disconnect the printer from the PC. Reboot the PC.
Reconnect the printer. Turn on the printer. What happens now.

Open "Printers & Faxes", right click the printer and select Properties, then the Ports tab. Make sure the correct port is selected for the printer, which will probably be a USB Virtual Printer Port. It may have reverted to the LPT1 Printer Port, which is a "Parallel" port.

Remove the Printer From Add Remove Programs in Control Panel, Do a search for Epson on the Computer Delete all that it finds. Put the Epson CD in to load XP drivers, at this point you should watch for the Software looking for Printer, turn on the printer at this point, NOT BEFORE. see if that does it

Thanks for all advice. mgmcc hit the spot it was set for LPT1. Selected USB virtual printer port and everything seems ok.
