Cannot Open Important Files

I formatted my computer, but before doing so I saved MY DOCUMENTS to a CD-RW. After reinstalling windows and completing everything, I copied the CD-RW back to the HDD.

The problem is that one folder, the one before the last, could not be copied to the HDD. A message box comes up saying ERROR: Cyclical Redundancy Check. What the heck is this? And how am I going to recoup these important files in this folder?

Please help me...

CRC (Cyclical Redundancy Check) errors are indicative of a PHYSICAL problem with the CD (scratches, dirt, warped, etc.) which causes windows inability to read from the CD.

try opening the folder and selecting the files individually to copy over to your HDD.

Try opening each file directly from the CD and saving it back to your hard drive - time-consuming, but it will probably work.
