My friend has had so many complications with the above computer that she tried to format the hard drive. There were no back-up discs supplied.

When she tries to format the drive it works normally until over 90% and then she gets the message:

'The system is not fully installed please run set up again'

Can anyone help?

Many thanks in anticipation.

If she has no backup disks, how is she going to re-install Windows?

Hi, go to the Maxtor site and download their hdd
tools program onto a floppy. It will check other
makes of hard drives.Change the boot order to floppy 1st.The Maxtor program will check the
physical state of your drive.Good luck.

You don't need backup disks.Go to the motherboard
manufacturer's site for the board's drivers.Just
find the board id number by looking into the pc.
The drivers you want are video, lan, audio, chipset.

Hi VoG - it is similar to a computer I bought recently where you get no discs - you just keep belting a key after you switch on until the screen appears which invites you to format.

Hi eqskey - Thanks very much for your kind efforts to help. I'll try what you say although, in truth, I think it might be a wee bit complicated for me. Many thanks.
