Cannot connect until router rebooted.

A friend has a TP-Link W8920G ADSL router connecting his Windows XP desktop PC to the Internet using an ethernet cable. He leaves the router on all the time but switches the PC off at night. He cannot connect to the Internet after switching on the PC in the morning until he has powered the router off and on again. His ISP is AOL and the router is set up according to their instructions. Any ideas anyone?

Check your setting on the Lan Card and Network Connection

Right click on Lan Card Icon in the task bar Click Status – General - Properties

At the top of display the type of Lan Card will be displayed

Click Configure - Click Advanced Tab

Check the following: -

Connection Type is set to “Auto Negotiation”

Flow Control is set to “Hardware Default (Auto)”

Wake Up Type is set to “OS Controlled”

Click the “Power Management Tab”

Untick “Allow The Computer To Turn Of This Device To Save Power”

Network Connection Setting

Click-Start- Setting-Network Connection-New Connection Wizard

Select-Connect to the Internet-Next

Select-Set Up My Connection Manually-Next

Select-Connect using a broadband connection that is always on
