Cannot connect to C&W router via Ethernet

  Milukaz 12:23 08 Aug 2007

I am trying to set up a Cable and Wireless 108Mbps ADSL wireless router on my friend's PC running XP Home.

I have pluged the router into the PC via ethernet, connected the power adapter and plugged the router into the phone line via a microfilter.

To install or configure the router you need to put its ip address into IE to view the configuration console, however when i put click here into IE i get 'page cannot be displayed'.

I have made sure that LAN is enabled and i have pinged the router and got a response (i have also made sure that the IP and DNS server are set to assign automatically, and they did so via dhcp), it is just the bit in IE that is not working. I tried taking down the firewall completely but this has not helped. The instructions are very basic/limited and i cannot find any tech support for cable and wireless equipment other than a premium rate phone line. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Has the network adapter actually got an IP address in the *SAME* Subnet (IP address range) as the router or does it have a "169.254" address?

If the latter, try allocating a fixed address in the correct Subnet to the adapter until the router has been configured.

The IP of the Router defaulted to and i got a ping response from this address.

The IP of the PC's network adapter was

I made sure of this as i have had similar problems before with my own PC. It seems that the actual ip addresses and connectivity are ok, it's a case of accessing the router through IE.

The model number of the router is HSADSLR15CW3

I have tried all of this and it has not helped.

All status lights on the Routetr are green, but still no access to the router's console.
