Cannot access some files on external disk

  kuka 19:38 18 Nov 2004

I have a an external hard disk connected to my PC via firewire. This disk is shared on my home network. A few days back I copied data from my other PC to this disk via the network. Since then I have formatted both the PCs and now I am not able to access the data I had copied on this disk from my network PC. I get 'You are not authorised' message. I can access all other data.

Pls. help as I need to access this data.

You have created a security protection act on your system. You have basically told windows that you want it to stop EVERYONE or certain users on the system

Try taking ownership of the files click here

I unchecked My Computer > Tools > Folder Options > View > Advanced setting > Use simple file sharing. Then changed the file access using security as advised above.

Thanks guys
