Can not complie Back up

im trying to back up my doc's and i cant do it using nero!

ive zip them up since nero cant handle more than 8 layers of folders etc, so i done that to make it copy as a whole file.

after i done that no more warnings saying 'this is more than 8 layers' so i thought it would start to burn.

everytime i try to proceed to burn, it starts and then it stops the blue box on the bottom part goes grey and then wait for bout 3mins it fails and stops (but cd-rw light keeps flashing with hard drive). the message is this

SCSI/ATAPI command timeout error

ive back up my docs this way and it works but dont know why it keeps failing

does anybody know why?

As far as I am aware, the 'SCSI/ATAPI command timeout error' is in effect a buffer under-run error.

Try burning at a lower speed - or or two settings beow maximum speed.

Changing the DMA settings for your CD-R can also resolve this.

whats the DMA setting? how do i get there to change it?

and also it reaches up to 4% and the buffer fails and stops but the lights keep going...

Have you tried burning at a lower speed yet?

Which version of Windows are you running? How you adjust your DMA setting depends on which version.
