Can I run 2 Routers

  smudge6521 22:04 01 Apr 2010

I have a question regarding routers. I am currently using Sky as my ISP and am setting up another internet connection upstairs in my house. I have 2 identicle routers that i have from Sky. Instead of using a wireless usb stick could I get away with using 2 routers one upstairs and one downstairs, or would this cause any conflicts. Thanks in advance

You can't put two routers on a single telephone line (if that's your question).

You could simply run a lan cable to your upstairs from the router. They can be up to 100m long.

If you only want one PC or laptop connected, run the cable upstairs from the router and plug it in.

If you want to connect another PC or networked printer or NAS drive or whatever and need the router upstairs too

In the old days with hubs, I am sure you just plugged them in and they worked.

You could try that anyway.
