Hi, is it possible to remove my win98 after installing an xp upgrade?
Have you set your PC as a dual boot or what?Details please!
Do not know. I just put the disc in and followed the instructions. Sorry.
I cannot remember doing anything that said dual boot. Is there somewhere I can find the details you need.
What makes you think that Windows 98 is still on there?
Have a look in control panel > add and remove programmes. If un-install windows 98 is listed, you have upgraded. If this is the case, then yes windows 98 is still on the system. To delete windows 98, just click on the un-install.
yes it is there dan11, but if I remove it will my xp upgrade still work, please.
What I mean is, is the xp upgrade reliant on win98 still being there , or is it a stand alone item.
Yes.It is a safety device, so you can back track to 98 if you have major problems with XP. This way you would not loose any settings on the upgrade to XP or the downgrade back to 98.Only delete the files if you are happy with the upgrade to XP. This should give you about 350Mb of spare hard drive space.
Thanks, that's great.
" What I mean is, is the xp upgrade reliant on win98 still being there , or is it a stand alone item. "No. It is totally independent and you can delete those files, if you wish to.The only benefit you gain by deleting the files, is extra hard drive space.
