Can I remove partition without formatting the disc

  Iluaf 19:21 21 Mar 2010

Got a Acer Aspire 7520 on Vista. I have run out of space on my C drive & Outlook will not work. I have 22Gb of free space on D drive.

Can I remove the partition and keep the files?

This free program should do what you want.

Is it not so that the 'D' drive is the recovery drive with XP/Vista machines- seek further advice before removing this partition.

Is to remove saved fData files to a CD/DVD or an external drive.

A valid point from jack - this might be useful ...

we are novices & in trying to move things into my D drive today, we managed to completely lose Outlook. Thank heavens for Carbonite & their remote access, which brought it back to life in about an hour!!!

I'm nervous about doing this after all the troubles we had tonight...Do you think if I take it to a PC shop/Pc world it is the kind of thing they can do & I won't lose any data (excuse my ignorance)

Thanks everyone

Yes, take it to a PC shop, where I would certainly expect engineers there to know what they are doing.

Thanks very much x

You're welcome - good luck.

Then consider the purchase of an external Hard drive- or even a pack of CD's and move files from 'C' drive for storage there, thus freeing up space.
Best to leave 'D' well alone - one you have had it checked out.
