I want to connect my PC to a digital soundbar The sound bar has an HDMI input port as well as HDMI ARC and Optical In. There is also a Portable In socket - not sure what that does. Will I be able to do connect without a digital converter, very few of which are available and of doubtful quality.

The PC HDMI port is HDCP compliant. Not sure if that has anysignificance.

Should do.

Try it and find out just borrow a cable from your DVD player to test.

Just plugged it in to the correct HDMI socket and it works fine!In fact it sounds better than when connected to the TV. Difficult to justify for PC use when recently purchased but the TV also has super sound after being gifted some great speakers now connected to the TV via my old hi fi - pity I can't use my handset on the TV sound though.
