Caddy for laptop hard drive

  emmandelo1 11:23 11 Feb 2010

Hi, I've just dumped a dead laptop but have kept the hard drive intending to use it as a spare external drive. However, i am having problems finding a caddy/enclosure to put it in. The laptop was a Packard Bell Easynote F7300. can anyone point me to a website where I might find a caddy to put the hard drive in. Thanks

There are thousands og them around, emmandelo, but you haven't said if your hard drive is IDE or SATA. Yon can get enclosures that will take both types though. click here You could also search EBay.

Thanks MAJ, It's a Hitachi Travelstar and it says on the drive ATA/IDE. So is this SATA or IDE

It's IDE, emmandelo, IDE, EIDE, ATA, PATA(Parallel-ATA) are all names for the same thing, SATA (Serial-ATA) is the newer, faster interface. I would (and did) get one that does both types, PATA and SATA, just incase you get a SATA 2.5" laptop drive fall in your lap in the future.
