C drive Corrupt and cannot be fixed???

  nessmanuk 18:09 14 Dec 2008

Hi - the above message appeared out of the blue. I tried to reinstall Windows twice but same message came back. If I format the drive would that sort the problem or is my C drive beyond help?? Thanks for any suggestions

go to the hard drive site and download their diagnostic software if you can

If you can, try doing a System Restore back to before you got the message.

Re-installing Windows should always be as a last resort - after first asking on this Forum!

.... and of course, that could be as a result of Malware infection - especially as it was 'out-the-blue' if you have not had any other recent problems.

another thought - Have you tried starting in Safe mode?

and are we talking about a laptop or desktop?

This could be a Virus

Have tried it in Safe mode and did a System Restore which would not work either. Avirus sounds like a possibilty. Thanks to all for your help and suggestions

Good luck on getting it sorted!

If you have a Full Operating System CD, NOT A RESTORE disc you could clear the drive of Partition information then Reload your OS this would remove any Virus. To Clear the Drive you can use this on after loading to a floppy then start with floppy disc click here
