without asking his permission"

What does this mean? How did PCWorld get their hands on this machine in the first place?

"he now has taken it off"

Taken what off?

OK, so the question is "buffs"(?) - and PCW has put a heath (health?) check on the HP 2210 but your friend took it back off again and the scanner will work but you're trying to un/reinstall it. Could you explain this a little more clearly to help us understand what it is you want to know?

Are you saying that PC World have done a health check on your friends PC, and since it's return to him, the Printer/scanner will not work?

Your 3 in 1 printer/scanner/copier is a USB device. You will need to disconnect it from the PC. [Take the cable out] then remove the printer and drivers from Control panel, Add/remove programs.

Reboot the PC, then install the software drivers first. Do not connect the printer to your PC until the software puts a message on-screen asking you to do so. If you do not see this message during the install of software, then wait until the software is fully installed, then connect the printer and turn it on.

You may need to reboot your PC again and it will put a message on-screen saying that it has found new hardware and is installing the software for it. When finished, the printer/scanner should be working again. j.

to answer the forum's editors question as to how pcw got hold of my friends pc is he purchased from them that is why they put h /check on it advent 3614 running XP and it has been more trouble than it is worth he also purchased the said hp 4 in 1 & not a 3 in 1 as first stated. he took his pc to have an upgrade done e.g. a nec dvd/cd burner put in free of charge when they done this they inst'ed h/check on his pc with a password he managed to get in and take off? one is not to sure of at the moment. so that's the saga. by the way everything worked until pcw got their useless hands on it. many thanks for your replies & help will let you all know later as to weather or not it is cured o'k [ buffs]
