BSOD on start up

  Brucemac 19:39 12 Feb 2006

Just tried to switch on PC, it froze so I unplugged. Tried to restart now all I get is BSOD STOP: 0x000000ED(0x81BDB5FD,0x0000006, 0x00000000,0x00000000). Will attempt to boot off Dell recovery disk then go to chkdsk/r. Question is what could be cause, ran Norton 2 days ago, machine off yesterday, no hardware mods or anything. Could I have a virus in there?

Sounds more like memory or hardware problem/failure. Test memory with this click here

Managed to get to the Dell utilities diagnostics (F2/F12 on switch on) ran most tests, it says that a single memory block is uncorrectable (Error code 0F00:0244, block 6651943:uncorrectable etc). What next?
