Is there a device on the market that you can plug in to the telephone network terminating point that will indicate if the ADSL is active or not? I have a friend who is rucking with their supplier who says it is working and my friend thinks not.

I would call that device a computer!

We need to know who the supplier is.

Thanks Graphicool. The supplier is BT but is there not anything that indicates that an ADSL sinal is being received whatever the supplier? Just a fast, first intial test in the event of problems.

My router shows if connected or not. What about your router ? Also use one of the many ADSL speed check programs out there. Search on Google.

Just plug a 'wireless modem router' or an adsl modem into the phoneline, if the adsl light remains on and steady (not flashing), then the line is active. The adsl modem will also need to be also plugged into the computer.

I was given this info some time back. Plug the modem into the line and your pc. type [email protected]in and leave password blank into the address line in your browser. This tests if the modem is connecting to the net.
