Broadband speedtest results

I have a long running issue with the speed of Home Max Broadband package from Orange which I won’t bore you with here but to summarise despite only living a mile and a half from the exchange I’m lucky to receive 1MB when I pay for 8MB.

My problem now is that the BT Speedtest program Orange ask you to perform returns a download speed of around 6MB but other like Thinkbroadband = 0.9MB and Dan Elwell = 0.9MB. I used to get 6MB so know what it feels and looks like. I’m NOT getting 6MB I can assure you.

So that’s my problem. Phone their lovely (sic) call centre in India and guess what? There is no problem because BT Speedtest “says” I’m getting around 6MB.

Can anyone offer a suggestion why I’m receiving such a varied difference on these Broadband speed test programs and obviously all suggestions to help bring the speed back would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

P.S. Off to O2 as soon as the contract expires!
