Please excuse my ignorance.
If an exchange is for example 2mb enabled then any phone line connected to that exchange can get a 2mb connection. The actual speeds however will decrease the further you go from the exchange.
Right or wrong?

yes you are right when you start getting near the end of the line the sloweer your speed.

But also the conditon of the line also plays apart in how fast you can go. Some lines won't support the faster speeds, even though they should in theory.
